    LOCATION PUBLIQUE DU DROIT DE CHASSE (PUBLIC HUNTING LEASE)
    On Wednesday April 8th at 6:30 p.m. at the Sports Hall, rue des Vergers in Hotton: auction sale for a 12-year-term beginning May 1st 2009.

    It is forbidden to take a hike into the woods during beats (between October 1st and December 31st).
     
    Get information about relevant dates and hikes from the Royal Syndicat d'Initiative (Royal Tourist Office) (Activités et Loisirs- Activities and Leisure pages /Promenades –Walks section) or the local police.

  • FISHING
     
    Fishing in the Ourthe River is classified as « pêche banale » it is to say fishing in navigable and floatable waters, during regular fishing  periods. From downstream of the JUPILLE (Hodister) bridge until the confluence with the Meuse liégeoise, stiller waters (barbel zone) alternate with faster streams (grayling zone), and fishers can mainly catch some cyprins d'eaux vives that live there alongside with perches and pikes, as well as, trouts and graylings.
    For any owner of a permit issued by the Walloon Region.
    (It is permanently forbidden to get into the Ourthe waterbed !)

Two kinds of fishing licenses are available:

 

MODEL FISHING PERMIT 

  • Waterfront hand line fishing with a single or double hand line only.
     
    Permit fees : 12,39 €


 

MODEL FISHING PERMIT 

  • Waterfront boat or floorboard fishing with a single or double hand line;
     
  • River bed fishing (A ZONE and unnavigable waters;
    in this case, get information from the managing companies, should they exist);
     
  • Boat fishing (B ZONE only) or floorboard fishing.
     
    Permit fees : 37,18 €

 

FISHING PERMIT ISSUED BY THE WALLOON REGION

The “OURTHE BANALE” is categorized as floatable or navigable waters; fishing is submitted to a permit issued by the Walloon Region.

You can get that permit on simple request and upon presentation of identity documents at any post office in the Walloon Region.
That individual permit remains valid throughout the current year.
(Don’t forget to mention the code corresponding to the province where you usually go fishing;
4 for Luxembourg).

Children under 14 years are allowed to fish without a permit if they are accompanied by a regular permit owner over 18 years of age, on Saturdays, Sundays, bank and school holidays; they are only allowed to use a single hand line with a simple hook.
(The number of accompanying children is limited to 4).

The law makes provision for 5 fishing periods:

  • 1st period
    from JANUARY 1st till FEBRUARY 28th
    ALL KINDS OF FISH
    (except pikes, perches, zanders, graylings, trouts)
     
  • 2nd period
    from MARCH 1st till the FRIDAY preceding the 3rd SATURDAY in MARCH
    FORBIDDEN FISHING

     
  • 3rd period
    from the 3rd SATURDAY in MARCH till the FRIDAY preceding the 1st SATURDAY in JUNE
    TROUT FISHING
    N.B. : Only fishing with man-made flies, without fishing weight or outbuilding, from the river bank, is allowed.
     
  • 4th period
    from the 1st SATURDAY in JUNE till SEPTEMBER 30th
    ALL KINDS OF FISH

     
  • 5th period
    from OCTOBER 1st till DECEMBER 31st
    ALL KINDS OF FISH (except trouts)
