LA LIGUE DES FAMILLES (THE FAMILY LEAGUE): AN ASSOCIATION THAT GETS THINGS GOING

Since family is the first place where collective values and social insertion can develop, the main concern of our group is campaigning with it, for it ad for a society open to both parents and children.

Action group for permanent education:

The Family League is a progressive community action group: the association works on solutions and campaigns, both politically and practically, so that people take familiar aspects into account in decision processes and get more aware of familiy specific community problems (related to work, incomes, mobility, time planning, school, democracy…).

The Family League aims at paying attention and listening to all families, regardless of their culture, their income level or their shape ( "traditional", single-parent or reconstituted families as contemporaneous families get more and more diverse). Facing changes to society (new patterns of masculine and feminine attributions in family life, questioning on democratic institutions, increasing dependence on employment as a social insertion mode…), the Family League wonders about social organization, public policies and general mentality that must change to meet the new family requirements.

Its individual and collective continuing education assignments are implemented thanks to various activities initiated by regional and local committees. By 2003 they will have been joined by the Espace Relais Familles décentralisées (Intermediary Centre for Decentred families) units that will be meeting spaces and information as well as initiative development and family-oriented support centres.

The Family League has a presence in the unit and helps families with many children to make some aspects of their everyday life easier.
